Every now and then a store comes accross an unsold batch of Dreamcasts and games. Normally, we wouldn’t report this kind of thing but we figured a Dreamcast related news post would be a nice way to wave goodbye to 2011.
myFOX reports: ‘A Sega Dreamcast and a few titles have made an appearance at the Game Over Videogames off the Southwest Freeway. [..] also got a shipment of Dreamcast games including MvC2, Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves and more.’
Well, we will be wrapping things up tomorrow, see you on the 2nd!

As announced yesterday, Gamespot posted a video interview with SEGA’s Ken Balough as well as a teaser trailer of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2.

N-Europe reports:
‘It’s been a long time since Sonic the Hedgehog 4 hit our virtual shelves and so fans of classic Sonic have been eager to find out more about episode 2.
It seems that their overwhelming excitement got too much for SEGA Digital Brand Manager, Ken Balough and hes finally taken to the official SEGA forums to… announce an announcement!
Ken Balough confirmed yesterday that there will be an announcement on Gamespot tomorrow (Decmeber 29th) regarding Episode 2 and it will be accompanied by a trailer.’
*Miami Heat rookie Mickell Gladness made the roster: “This is probably the best Christmas gift that I’ve ever gotten in my life,” he said. “I probably would have said, when I was younger, when I got a Sega Genesis for Christmas.
But this just tops that.”
*The sheer insanity of some people new ceases to amaze us. A Chinese person going by the nickname ‘Kesons’ updated his blog with this picture (WARNING, ’mature’ content). A rough translation of the text: ‘A SEGA fan,
I will never yield. I don’t want to debate with Sony fans or SEGA’s traitors.’ Furthermore he calls out to Sony fans to do the same for ‘their company’.
*Aaaand to complete this rather weird update, another commercial by SEGA Japan. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet StarHorse3.
Christmas sales..

SEGA news.net will back on the 27th, ’till then!

Anime & Drama site Crunchyroll (!?) posted a hands-on feature of one of SEGA’s latest titles, Samurai & Dragons, a PlayStation Vita project.
To give you an idea of the game’s gameplay, here’s a quote from said feature:
‘[..] there’s dungeon crawling, a task you can undertake with up to three other players. Then, monster training and battling with them to expand your territory. That brings us to the third element, which is city building simulation. You can go it alone or form alliances with friends.’
You can check out the full feature HERE.

Venturebeat reports:
‘ChuChu Rocket!, the classic Dreamcast puzzler by Sonic Team (of Sonic the Hedghehog and NiGHTS fame) will be available for free on Android devices starting tomorrow, December 23. This is happening by way of GetJar, a free app market that claims over 2 billion downloads to date.
Senior VP of digital business at SEGA, Haruki Satomi, said “With the continuing popularity of ChuChu Rocket!, we knew it was a perfect for the world’s largest free app store. The game is such an ideal app for mobile devices, and we are very pleased by the opportunity to prove that to an ever-growing audience.’
N-Europe reports:
‘SEGA released more information about Rhythm Thief recently and we now know that the game is set to release in Japan on January 19th and boasts wireless capabilities. Europe is still waiting for an official date.
SEGA also revealed that you can unlock certain items and special features within the game. You can collect medals by clearing rhythm games and checking ’suspicious places’. These medals can be used for various things like unlocking previously watched cut-scenes or items to help you out in the game.
Rhythm Thief is also set to feature wireless capabilities though sadly it seems that multiplayer will be local only. Every cloud has a silver lining though and whilst it’s only local play there is an option for Download Play too so your friends can enjoy the beat without having to buy the game themselves.’

MTV Gaming reports:
‘All the Renegade Ops players out there have some new DLC from SEGA to look into. Not only have they released a 3-level expansion for the campaign dubbed Coldstrike Campaign, they have also released The Vehicle Pack that adds two new characters to the front.
With Christmas around the corner Mario & Sonic’s sales are booming again..

TSSZ News reports:
‘Shareholders shrugged off word of Anarchy Reigns getting another delay to July. Instead, they likely looked at the incredible demand and praise for the Sonic CD that’s coming to a head across the Internet today.
At least, that’s the only thing we can think of that would contribute to a 7.57% stock spike, lifting SGAMY well over the $5 mark to $5.26 a share on the pink sheets. The share price was even higher at points during the day–nearly touching a 9 percent increase–before cooling off a tad.’

SEGA reports:
‘One of GamesRadar’s top 100 games of all time, the revamped version of this popular title will include the original Japanese and US soundtracks as requested by the fans, and, for the first time, the ability to play the game as Sonic’s best friend Tails, unlockable by clearing the game for the first time. Sonic CD also features the first appearance of Metal Sonic, one of Sonic’s most enduring nemeses.’

Destructoid posted a hands-on feature of Binary Domain. A few quotes:
[..] ‘judging this game by its looks alone is a huge mistake; as it’s what’s on the inside that makes this game special’.
[..] ‘The core of game is built behind a very competent shooter, which should greatly appeal to the western market, but it also has a rich story’.
[..] ‘With only a few short months away it’s hard not to get a little bit excited for this intriguing third-person shooter. Its gripping story of robots versus humans, good versus evil, and the lower-class versus the elite of humanity has made Binary Domain on my most anticipated titles for next year.’

Remember THIS story? Well, it seems the people at SEGA changed their minds. Sonic CD will ‘fully support the Xperia Play when it hits the Android Marketplace’.
Mario & Sonic’s Olympic adventures sadly aren’t as succesful (yet) as
their earlier ones..
