SEGA Sammy Holdings: Financial update

International Business Times reports:

‘Just after Nintendo revealed its own disastrous quarter, veteran games make SEGA has revealed a massive 29.9 per cent drop in revenue in its latest financial statement.

Blaming weak international sales and “sluggish personal consumption,” SEGA confirmed that for the quarter ending 30 Sept it had seen yet another downturn, with its net sales for the half year finishing at $1.9 billion (£1.2 billion).

Posting a net income of $51 million (£32 million), the company went on to report an 83.7 per cent drop from the same period in 2010. SEGA’s operating income also took a sizable hit, dropping 67.6 per cent to $1.95 million (£1.2 million).

SEGA’s consumer business division reported a 13.1 per cent decrease in sales, dropping to $434 million (£271 million), leading to a $77 million (£48 million) operating loss. In the same period last year, the division posted a smaller $16 million (£10 million) operating loss.’

‘Today, we’re revealing an exciting new partnership with Arkedo Studio, best known for Nervous Brickdown and Big Bang Mini for Nintendo DS, as well as the Indie “Arkedo Series” on Xbox LIVE Indie Games and PlayStation Network. Arkedo is currently working on “Project Hell Yeah!” which has been

SEGA posted all the info you’ll need.

*Official Xbox magazine UK was the first to review the game and awarded it
a rating of 9/10. Expect more review scores tomorrow.

Daytona USA returns!

‘Today we are happy to announce the triumphant return of the cherished arcade racer, Daytona USA! Speeding out of the past from its 1993 debut, Daytona USA will be racing onto Xbox LIVE Arcade for and PlayStation Network.

The classic title has been tuned up and overhauled with enhanced graphics, steering wheel support and, for the first time on home consoles, online multiplayer.

Daytona USA will be available as a speedy digital download in North America on October 25 for PlayStation Network ($9.99) and October 26 for Xbox LIVE Arcade (800 Microsoft Points), and in late November in Europe.’
