*First reported back in September 2008 (roughly five months ago!) the Sonic vinyl figure STILL isn’t on sale. Despite being planned for release in December, First4Figures still didn’t get around releasing it. Start molding that plastic, people!

A long new MadWorld trailer (in that typical humorous SEGA style) was released. Go check it out on GameKyo.
SEGA USA offers readers of their blog and users of their forums the chance to come up with questions for next week’s interview with High Voltage Software, the developers of The Conduit. So, if you got some questions that need answering pay them a visit and submit them.
*The first part of the House of the Dead: Overkill dev-diary can now be seen on SEGA’s Youtube channel.

Having fond memories of the eight-bit days? Takao Miyoshi seems to do, as he is developing a new game by the name of Pole no Daibouken (roughly translated: Pole’s Big Adventure) that sports graphics and sound straight from the eighties. When poking around its site, you might see that Pole no Daibouken bears some resemblance to a certain game from 1985 featuring two plumbers.
Pole no Daibouken seems to be poking fun at the bygone era of simplistic graphics, bleepy tunes and unfair levels. The game will be released on the Wii-ware label, will cost 500 Wii points and will go ‘on sale’ February 3rd (in Japan that is, naturally).
Another mystery solved.
SEGA Amusements posted their full line-up for the ATEI 2009 on their site. Games include HUMMER, Rambo and Harley Davidson - King of the Road.
Thanks to VBT @ SegaXtreme for the news.
*Some of the unlockable arcade games of the upcoming SEGA Megadrive Ultimate collection were unveiled. Zaxxon, Congo Bongo, Space Harrier, Shinobi, Fantasy Zone and Alien Syndrome will all be included.
*Though still not planned for release abroad (why not, eh?), SEGA released another trailer of Yakuza 3. (Due in Japan on February the 26th). Some new screenshots were also released, revealing a new Karaoke minigame.
*Also due soon is MadWorld for Wii. SEGA released some new screenshots of this violent new game by Platinum Games.
*An incredibly cheesy new trailer of The House of the Dead: Overkill can be seen HERE.
*Some new Shining Force Feather footage and screenshots can be seen at GameKyo.
*Two days ago we reported that SEGA USA had to layoff 30 of its employees. Sega Europe president Mike Hayes has now assured the press that Sega Europe is doing rather well at the moment and will definitely not need to follow suit.
*Wonderboy in Monsterland (SMS) is now available from the Wii store for 500 points.
*Dengeki Online posted some new screenshots of Phantasy Star Zero (DS). They give you an idea of the communication system.
*The OutRun Online Arcade achievements can be checked out HERE.
*SEGA USA posted some new screenshots and information on a couple of the units seen in StormRise.
Phew, that was that, see you tomorrow!
*It’s not official but very likely indeed; a sequel to Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games. Spanish magazine ‘Nintendo Acción’ posted a news story around a mysterious ‘winter’ game containing Mario and Sonic. It’s likely we’ll see something along the lines of ‘Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter games’ before the 2010 winter games in Vancouver.
*Bored with the PlaySEGA site because you’ve already played all the games to death? Well, a whole slew of new games were added to the site this week. There’s ‘The Quiz of culinary delights’, ‘SEGA Pool’, ‘Columns’ and just around the corner is that good old game featuring mice and cats..
*The Empire: Total War website was heavily updated the last couple of weeks. You can now find information about the Poland/Lithuania faction, the Clansmen unit and a new building unit; the European-style tenanted farm.
*Sega Europe North MD Alan Pritchard and UK sales director John Clark were interviewed by MCV. They talk about 2008, their ambitions for 2009 and SEGA’s plans for the future.
*It seems unlikely that OutRun Online Arcade will be released on the USA PS3 network. No reason has been given, but the game will be exclusively for XBOX Live Arcade. European PS3 owners don’t have to worry; O.O.A. will be on sale on the European PlayStation network.
*After EA, Crystal Dynamics, Midway, Free Radical, Factor 5 and Funcom, it’s now SEGA USA that had to layoff 30 employees because of ‘economic recession, harsh retail landscape, and the reality of business challenges to profitability’. A sad day.
A slighty different looking chart update this week, see what you think.

As the release of The House of the Dead: Overkill draws closer Sega of Europe gave us an overview of the first level of the game: Papa’s Palace of Pain. Go check it out.
*SEGA Megadrive Ultimate Collection gets a date: The game will be released February 20. The game should be available for a budget price as well, so there’s no reason not to buy it.
*New footage of The Conduit can now been seen on Gametrailers. There’s both an inprovement trailer (Then and now, a side by side look at how far High Voltage has come in development of The Conduit) and a developer diary with new features.
*A new game is now available on the both USA and European servers of PlaySEGA. It’s called Stuntmaster Motorcross and seems to be based on an ancient (but excellent) PC game called Elma (or Across). If you haven’t experienced PlaySEGA yet, go take a look, it’s an enjoyable portal of Flash games in which you can create your own avatar and collect items.
Remember the ATEI update in December? SEGA News predicted the possibility of a showcase of the ‘SEGA Vision’ gadget at the upcoming ATEI show. Well, SEGA Amusements now confirmed that the ‘SEGA Vision’ gadget will, indeed, be on display.
That’s not all, though. Another gadget that goes by the name of ‘SEGA Spe-X‘ will also be featured. These SEGA branded sunglasses will come with a built-in digital camera and MP3 player (I kid you not!).
Finally, SEGA was granted the exclusive license for trade sales and distribution of all branded ‘Hello Kitty’ plush products throughout Europe, the Balkan States, Middle East and Africa. A special ‘Hello Kitty’ UFO catcher will be on display this ATEI, together with plushes, key-chains and pillows.
SEGA produced a six-track vinyl with classic Megadrive songs on it as a promotion item for the upcoming Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection. Songs include Golden Axe, Vectorman and Phantasy Star.
Check out its cool design HERE
*SEGA released some more screenshots of upcoming Ultimate Genesis/Megadrive collection. This time around thery’re screenshots from the Phantasy Star series.
*Another mysterious new SEGA game? You better believe it. Yet another mysterious new website with countdown timer has popped up. Producer of the game will be Takao Miyoshi, a familiar name. Let the speculation begin..
*The Guilty Gear games were released on many platforms (XBOX, DC, PS2 and even a Saturn version was planned). They were developed by Arc Systems Works. News has now reached us (thanks: Gamasutra) that SEGA is the proud new owner of the Guilty Gear franchise, so it seems likely all new games from now on will be published by SEGA.
*Mario and Sonic at the Olympics drops two places from #5 to #7 in the all-price/all-format chart but just one in the full-price/all-format chart (#5 to #6).

*The boxart for the upcoming Japanese release of 7th Dragon can be seen HERE.
*Meanwhile, the people at SEGA thought the boxart for Shining Force: Feather wasn’t good enough and slightly changed the design.
Check out the new (first) and old (second) designs HERE.
*The PAL packaging for Madworld was also unveiled a while ago (you probably already saw it, but hey, let’s complete the picture here).
We had to look back into the archives of SEGA News (’Wasn’t this game already confirmed for release abroad?’), but it turned out that, yes, the release of Phantasy Star 0 (DS) in Europe and the USA is actually news.
*Read the official press release
*Or check out some of the screenshots
*European Wii owners got another SEGA classic to download: Enduro Racer (Master System version). It was already available for US gamers and now made its way to Europe. Enduro Racer will be on sale for 500 Wii-points.

*SEGA Japan is running a special kind of campaign for the upcoming Shining Force Feather (DS). Users with news sites, fansites or news blogs can download a special banner they can place on their sites. By filling out a form with their websites and user info they will enter a competition to win special Shining Force Feather prices, such as autographed artwork.
Segadatabase NEWS naturally looked into this, but the questions asked were just a tad difficult to answer (such as ‘name your favorite voice actor’ in the game). Maybe SEGA USA or Europe will do a similar promotion in the future..
*Segadatabase network update: Segadatabase’s Flickr account was updated with plenty of new photographs. Check back soon for even more new pictures.
